The registry is a database full of information determining how your PC 
should work.
Various programs write in this database.
Installing and uninstalling programs and apps change the registry.
Sometimes uninstall doesn't remove all that was originally written to 
the registry.
This makes the large registry even larger than it needs to be and leaves 
old pieces that can cause your PC to be slow or even misprocess some 
activity.
You might use a registry cleaner to remove unwanted fragments of 
uninstalled apps and programs.
