Yeah, that does get recent documents. You also can type Control O and tab
to them.

In WORD 2013, I found out how to open recently opened documents.

There is another way. Some will think it is easier.
  Open the START menu with the Windows Logo key
  Arrow down to: Most used list box
  arrow down and highlight: WORD  2013
  Tab to the: show Jump list button
  activate it to get the list of documents, WORD documents and text
files.
