Thanks for confirming the problem I'm having with pkzip. The error occurs
when (and only when) I try to open a file from within Pkzip, or click on a
file that requires pkzip to open, or when I try to compress files into a
.zip file. I've discovered that the shareware version of pkzip (the
version that you can download from the web site) has advertising banners
in it, and I'm wondering whether these are somehow interfering with Jaws.
It does seem to be a problem specific to Jaws, though, because I was able
to use Window Bridge to access pkzip without any problem.
I've also tried unloading Jaws, then loading Pkzip and opening a zip file,
and then reloading jaws. As soon as Jaws loads, the "illegal operation"
message appears, so it doesn't seem to matter whether Jaws is runing
before Pkzip or after it is running.
Although the Winzip program seems to work OK, Pkzip is a fairly popular
program, and so it would be good if Jaws can be made to work properly with
it.
