Walter,

If you are just in the message window, looking at your list of messages,
you should hear the name of the mail box you are in.  If you are in the
message, hitting INS-T should read the subject of the messsage and also its
writer.  There may be additional information given, I suspect, if there's
room and you have options set for this.
