i am not sure if the keystrokes for maximizing child and parent windows are the same in windows 98 and 95. i use windows 95. child windows are part of using programs that allow multiple documents or objects to be open and accessible at the same time, such as word, access and excel. sighted users sometimes like to size a couple of word documents, for instance, so that they can see the documents at the same time on the same screen. even though only one document has the focus at any given time, they are both available, visually. it seems to me that previous versions of jfw said "application control menu" and "document control menu" when alt + spacebar and alt + hyphen were used, but now my speech just reads "control menu", which doesn't give as much information about what's happening. - Visit the jfw ml web page: http://yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au/~nallan/jfw
