varying pitch doubletalk

Hi Listers,

When I arrow down a list of email messages, my "Doubletalk" sometimes getts
higher and higher untill reaching a given point.  Then the pitch changes
back to normal and starts over.  Sometimes if I pause a few seconds when
the pitch starts going up, and then start arrowing down again, the speech
will change to normal.  

Is there a whan to stop this? It isn't really too bad, just annoying.
