When I log onto the network here at work just before enter password prompt
comes up I hear feedback from the dectalk pc2 consistently.� The N.I.C. card
was changed but that helped nothing.� The work environment is subject to
much E.M.P. activity and I wonder if that E.M.P. activity could have damaged
the dectalk pc2 synthesizer.� An analyst checked out the system today and
said all else appears fine on a software level too.� If it wasn't E.M.P. the
synthesizer has been in use since August 1995 and it's possible the computer
wants a new one.� The feedback now happens at random events and for random
intervals.� The original monitor died on this system late last year and was
replaced and at the same time the feedback started up again.� Earlier when
this happened I was told it was the E.M.P. doing it and a filter was
installed and the problem went away for a few years but now it's back
again.� Am I missing any bases?� The only thing the analyst can think to do
is to upgrade this system to win98 and that's on for tomorrow.� The N.I.C.
was a 3c509 combo and that was replaced by a 3c515 earlier today.
