JFW users,
Since I have been a long-time Unix/Linux user, as well as a
long-time JFW user, I can state that the good old "ncftp" software, now
that it has been ported to both Win95/98 and Win/NT, works just
beautifully with JFW3.2. For those of you who have used ncftp under
Unix or Linux, and are aware of its power, ease of use, etc., you should
really give it a try with JFW.
About the only serious problem is that the Win/NT port of this
package does not currently handle firewalls, which of course a serious
problem. I have tried many, many other ftp packages under Windows,
including wsftp, cuteftp, teraterm, etc., and even though I am one of
those people who has absolutely no problems getting the plain Windows
ftp package to work with JFW, I still infinitely prefer good old ncftp!
Because these Win95/98 and NT packages were rather difficult to
find, and because they are also not on the ncftp page, if some of you
want copies, get back to me, and I'll put them on my ftp site, and send
you instructions on where I have put them so you can download them.
