andrew the archive files on the faq pages has instructions for using this
program,
all you need to do is
hit the
following jfw command
insert on num lock plus letter s keystroke
until it says all, then use the tab key.
well i just updated the uninstaller in the archive 4 minutes ago, so here is
a sample of the quick clean stuff.
bill
to run quick clean do the following.
click on win 95 key
hit letter p for programs
hit letter c for cybermedia
arrow down to uninstaller.
the other choice being agent.
hit enter on uninstaller.
wait a couple of minutes while the program updates its smart links data base.
this takes about a minute.
it will make a bong sound when finished.
now you need to turn echo all on.
to do this in jfw do the following
hold down num lock pad insert plus letter s keystroke
do this until it says echo all
now jfw can read the choices here.
now you can tab through all your choices.
do so.
tab to quick clean
now turn off, echo all,by holding down the same keys you did to turn it to
echo.
insert on num lock plus letter s keystroke
do this untill it says echo highlight.
their are 5 cleaners under this category by default that the program will want
to clean out.
if you did a standard install all five are ready to do their thing.
it is possible to turn off 1 or more of the five but jfw does not read certain
bit map graphics here.
by the way this is about the only place it does not read graphics.
my advice is to decide what you want to work and what you do not want to work
and do a custom install when you have sighted help.
once you set it the way you want their is no reason to change.
a couple of other things here, it is possible to add another folder that you
may want to be cleaned out on a regular basis.
so i did a custom install and included the cookie folder.
by default it was not an option.
this did take some digging into the manual to figure out how to do this.
one other feature is that this program can clean out temporarely downloaded
files from the internet, so when doing the install one can exclude any file,
file type, or particular folder.
so i said do not touch jfw32.
of course it does not usually do anything to jfw any how, or at least on my
other system it did not where i did not enable that feature, it is smart
enough to know what temporary internet files are.
really just use that as an example to explain how this program works.
now you have an idea how it works, here are the five parts to quick clean.
internet cache cleaner
recycle bin cleaner
temporarefiles cleaner
short cut cleaner
and registry cleaner.
well the recycle bin cleaner is one i turn off.
the short cut cleaner i do not.
though in this area i prefer norton utilities.
reason being is that the short cuts in the registry can often be reunited
with its program.
still if i run norton prior to runing quick clean it is less of an issue
because norton utilities wind doctor will fix everything before quick cleans
short cut feature can do anything.
a explaination for lay people here is in order.
most registry tools are designed to look in the registry for lines of code,
then look at the pointer for that code, and if the pointer does not point to a
current folder the registry cleaner will delete it from the registry.
some times the program is still on the system, only in a differant location.
wind doctor can often study the system and make the short cut functional
again.
of course if the registry entries are deleted by quick clean norton utilities
wind doctor can not make such a repair.
tab to the next button and hit enter.
your computer is now under going a analysys process.
after the analasys their is some buttons
details, clean button, close button, and a help button.
turn on your jfw cursor to read the screen.
find the clean button and hit enter.
your p c will say edit when it is finished.
their will now be a edit box with info on what all the cleaners did.
now a new screen appears that says details, close, or help.
click on close.
