Yes, the fields have a control id and a handle, but the control id is
different every time the screen is loaded, and the handle is the same for
all fields on that page! A simple script to read the field's label, then
it's contents is easy enough, but only if all the fields had their labels in
the same location in relation to the field, and they all have a specific
number of words within that label. For example, if the fields were:
Company:________________
Last:________________
First:______________
Address1:______________
A script for that would be pretty easy, but what if you have multiple words
per label, and multiple fields per line, and the labels were in different
places in relation to it's field contents, such as above the field, or to
the right of the field:
Company Name:_________________ Voice phone:______________
Last Name:___________________ Fax:_______________
First Nane:_____________ Pager:_______________
Bill Tok:
____________________
______________
____________
Ship to:
______________
____________
___________
Credit Card number: ___________________________
Expires:_____________________
What do you do to get the field name read whenever you move into that
particular field, regardless if that name is to the left, above, or right of
the contents, and regardless whether it is a single word name, or two or
three words to that name.
You can't trigger on the field's control id, since it is different each time
the screen is loaded; nor can you use the field's handle, since it is the
same for all the Edit fields on this screen.
You can't use "SayField" since it reads across the entire screen, and
restricting the cursor will only restrict you to the edit field, and shut
out the label.
The only method I've found is to set a frame around each field that
surrounds the field's label as the field's data area, then assign the
"SayFrameAtCursor" to the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, since these keys are used
to move from field to field.
Is there a means of having the control id static, and/or the handle
different with each field, but static?
ASAW and Window-Eyes somewhat read the labels automatically, but I can't get
JFW to do the same.
