Annoying delay in windows explorer

I am using JFW 3.2 with eloquence in a new Gateway notebook PC with a Neo
Magic 2160 video card and 96 MB of RAM.  I am experiencing an annoying 1 to
10 second delay when moving with the arrow keys through items on a list.
Any suggestions to solve this problem?
