converting macros to scripts

I am trying to convert the macros for Quickbooks from JFW2.29 into scripts
using the import item from the Configuration Manager file menu.  No dice.
The manual says the import command will create an empty script file, and
that somehow magically the old stuff becomes new stuff.  So far although I
wave the wand, nothing magic happens.  Obviously, I'm not reading between
the lines.   can someone please give me some clues?
