Hello, listers, I decided to try the Keynote Gold synthesizer demo and the
Keysoft suite. Well, I installed the Keynote Gold and unloaded my JFW.
The demo promptly told me that I had used up my 15 minutes and that speech
would disappear after 3 more. I could start the demo again by restarting
the computer. At that moment all speech disappeared--both Keynote and JFW
with my Dectalk Access 32. I booted up but the Keynote synth got to the
sound card first and informed me that the demo had expired and so on.
There was no way to get my Dectalk and JFW running so that I could delete
this Keynote demo. What I finally did was to insert my JFW CD into the
computer as early in the boot-up process as the computer allowed. This got
to the sound card ahead of the Keynote demo, so I was able to delete it.
But I now live in dread of demos. What do you think I could have done
differently to have the whole thing go more smoothly? I debated as to
whether to put this question to this list or to Pulsedata, but since the
real problem was the loss of my JFW, I thought that I needed help from you
folks first.
