I'm going to start off this message by freely admitting that the
following matter may have been discussed in the past, but being a
Johnnie-come-lately around here, I may have missed it.

Do any of you JFW V2 users miss the shift-key-tap feature that was
removed when 3.0 came out? Has anybody complained about this?

Don't know what I'm on about? For those of you who began your JAWS
for Windows experience with Windows 95 and Version 3.0, a bit of
history is in order. In JFW 2.0 for Windows 3.1 and 95, sometimes
known as the crossover version because you could actually use it on 95
to install 3.0, there was a nice feature where, as text was being
spoken, if you didn't want to hear what was on the current line being
voiced, you could press one or the other SHIFT key, JAWS would stop
reading that line and begin again on the next one. Quite a handy
feature if you read a lot of things with lengthy headers you don't
necessarily care about hearing. Well, I for one want it back, and for
any of you who've never experienced it, try it out with Version 2
installed to a different directory so you don't upset your current
settings, and see if it ain't the cat's meow. If product development
is supposed to be user-driven, I highly recommend we try and drive
this one back home and get it put back into the product. I mean,
wouldn't you love a feature that does what I described? Well, there
used to be one, then it was gone! Like the song says, "bring it back,
bring it back, don't take it away from me because you don't know what
it means to me".
