Hi there folks,
I'm afraid I know the answer to this question, but I'll ask with the
hope of being incorrect in my assumption. We recently moved up to JFW
3.20.31
and Eloquence. We are also using a Sound Blaster speech card. Open Book
3.5U is also running on my computer. Unfortunately, Eloquence is the
default,
and consequently, only synthesizer installed on the computer. I previously
had the Keynote Gold internal synthesizer installed with the older version
of JFW. The MIS crew seem to be emphatic about nixing the idea of
reinstalling the Keynote, though it is a far better synthesizer. MIS seemed
to say that the Keynote didn't work in windows, although I thought I
observed
that JFW 3.20.31 supported its operation.
When I went to use Open Book, I pressed INS-F4 to unload JFW from
memory
and invoked a shortcut I made for Open Book. But lo and behold, Open Book
was not speaking. I then changed the relevant .jcf file so that JFW's sleep
mode was used only when in Open Book and did not unload the synthesizer
(i.e., Eloquence). But even with these particular settings, there was no
speech with Open Book.
Therefore, my question is as follows: Is Eloquence out of the picture
when JFW is asleep. That is, has Eloquence been automatically unloaded when
JFW is in sleep mode? (big frown) I have an older copy of Omnipage Lite
that I received with my scanner, but it does not seem to give any
information as to page orientation. I observe that there is a page preview
window and page rotation feagurein Omnipage, but I can't seem to use the
the page preview window. Any ideas?
Also, I would be very grateful for any thoughts concerning the proper
installation of Keynote with JFW and Windows. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated, either on the list or privately. Many thanks in
advance.
best regards,
