greetings listers:

recently someone commented on how to figure out if you are
in a header or a footer pane in word. each header or footer
pane is labelled, slightly above the actual editing area of the
header or footer. when creating or editing a header or footer,
route the jaws cursor to the pc cursor and read up one or two
lines, you should hear things like "first page header",
"header", "first page footer" or "footer". by the way, it is
possible to move the pc cursor from a header to a footer
pane by pressing the down arrow key, rather than using the
button on the header/footer toolbar.
