Two things you might try:

1. Instead of using Paste in Wordpad try Paste Special.  This is alt-e, u
in the program.  I've found this will sometimes bring in a better version
of the page.

2. From the web browser save the file as a plain text file using the Save
As command and then load it with the open file command.
