Your old screen saver would be still on your computer you just have to
change it to the current screen saver.
To change your screen saver, go to the Start Menu then Settings and then
Control Panel. Use the arrow keys to go to Display. Then press enter. Press
Shift + Tab once you will hear, "Background Tab". Then press the right arrow
once, Then press Tab once and use the up and down arrow keys to pick the
screen saver you want.

Subject: Blank screen after IE 4.01
Hello, listers, Yesterday I installed the Internet Explorer 4.01 from the
JFW 3.2 CD. I had trouble with the active desktop, so I uninstalled
Internet Explorer and installed the same copy of 4.01 again, this time
without the active desktop option. All goes well if I keep the computer
busy, but if not, the screen saver tries to kick in quite soon. Then,
instead of a screen saver, the screen goes blank. I have a feeling that I
inadvertently removed my old screen saver with the first installation of
Internet Explorer 4.01 and set up its screen saver. Then when I
uninstalled and did not set up the active desktop, that I did not put a new
screen saver in. When the computer tries to turn on the screen saver,
there is nothing there to turn on. This is my conjecture, but is this
right? Thanks for your throughts.
