Most of msaccess is possible to get through provided you remember when you
start answering questions to answer all questions. That means until the
finish button is the only button left to press answer all other questions.
That should keep you off the streeets and out of trouble for the next 30
seconds. :-) What does need sighted people to do is customizing forms, but
that's because Microsoft didn't put enough menus in that section of the
program. Things should improve on that score though. I took a three-day
training course in msaccess so got to deal with much of the program with the
exception of accessbasic (that's really inaccessible), macros, and code.
Here's a pleasant surprise. Excel 97 calls pivot tables what the rest of
the world calls crosstabs. I took a three-day training course in excel97
too. I found out excel's pivot table wizard is inaccessible for jfw users
at any rate. However the crosstab wizard in saccess was a breeze and
creates the same tables. Usually if you get asked to analyze something
management wants crosstabs, so just remember to use msaccess to do those and
you'll have expanded capability. Since msacces crosstabs can be imported
back into excel 97, you don't have to tell anyone how you managed to produce
those tables unless all you have is excel and can't get msaccess put in.
The other things about msaccess are list boxes are everywhere and it doesn't
hurt to examine them and make selections either. Second, many things in
msaccess run around under minimized windows. alt dash x should fix those
when they materialize though.
