Hello listers. Since my original posting I have received two emails that said that Mcafee version 4.02 did not lock speech when the background scan found the eicar test virus. This prompted me to conduct another test myself and I am happy to say that it did not lock JFW. The last time I tried this test on an older version of Mcafee it did lock my speech. My best guess is that the integration of dR Solomon's technology with Mcafee's Virushield is the reason for the change. I would be interested to know if either of the other people who ran this test is using Eloquence because the one other difference, (besides the fact that I used a newer version of Mcafee this time), was that the first test was performed on a system using Eloquence as the synth and this test was done on a machine using a dec-talk express. I would love to hear any further followup on this. Just as a side note, although it seems as though Mcafee no longer locks speech when a background scan finds a virus it would still not be my first choice as an AV package since its detection and disinfection rates fall below the standards of other programs.
