Hello List Members,

We have an Alva 280 (I believe) refreshable braille display. It has 80
cells with three status cells. We're also running JFW 3.20.31 with the
newest Alva software installed. Everything works perfectly well, except for
one quirky problem. It is possible to read from the display, one line after
another using the up, down, left, and right arrows. But when the display is
being read with the use of the bars at the front of the display, and the
display encounters a blank line in the text, the display shows the words
"scroll down symbol". When the bar is again pressed, I hear the infamous
"bottom of window" message, and the display will move no farther. I've
often
checked to see the status of the JAWS and the PC cursor, and I am always
notified that I am using the PC cursor. But that "bottom of window" message
would seem to indicate that I am in the JAWS cursor mode. I then depress
the down arrow and the cursor bounces up to an earlier part of the text.
the cursor then proceeds downward in a normal fashion, as long as I keep
pressing the down arrow (or use the Say All command). But when I again
encounter a blank line of text with the bars at the front of the display,
the trouble recurs. I know that the Alva software is more up-to-date than
the Alva hardware, but if I had to take a wild guess, I would say that the
problem is with JFW, especially in light of a HJ message I recently saw on
this list concerning a display panning problem. Anyone else have any ideas?
In particular, if Ann McCay is reading this post, I'd like to know of her
experience with this display.

Best Regards
