I suspect that the real problem lies in the Windows registry file. Such
references can be extremely hard to isolate and remove and if you make
just one mistake with the registry, you can turn your computer into a
rather attractive door stop or boat anchor.
You didn't say how you removed the previous software ... did you simply
delete the stuff you thought needed deleting or did you use the Add/Remove
Software item in the Control Panel? Even if you did the latter, that
won't always guarantee a clean removal.
