Hello Mark,
the Insert+F12 command reads the Taskbar, not the system tray.
If you have installed the modified default scripts, Insert+grave will read the
items in the system tray once you have labeled them.
The following steps will show you how I went about that task.
1. Press Insert+F6 to minimize all applications and place your focus on the
taskbar.
2. Press Shift+Tab to move to the Taskbar.
3. Press Insert+Numpad Minus to route the Jaws Cursor to the PC Cursor.
4. Press the end key to move the cursor to the clock.
5. Press Insert+S until JFW informs you that screen echo is set to all.
6. Now, press the left arrow key repeatedly. However, do this slowly,
counting to five between pressings. You can expect the following behavior
from JFW. First, you may hear "blank" However, when you arrive at an icon,
JFW will announce a graphic number, then there may be a bit of a pause, and
then JFW will read the tooltip associated with the icon. For example, JFW
will say something like "graphic 961." Then it will pause for a second. Next
it will say "Volume control Icon."
7. Press insert+G and label the graphic.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you reach the volume Control Icon. This is
traditionally the first icon in the task or system tray.
Once you have labeled the graphics, Pressing Insert+Grave (this is the key
left of the number 1 key)will bring up a list of the system tray icons. Arrow
to the one in which you are interestedand press enter. The JAWS Cursor wil be
placed on the icon you selected. Double clicking on the icon will bring up
the application so you can make the necessary changes.
Example: Press Insert+Grave, select the Dial-up Connection icon and press
enter. Pres the left mouse button twice. The dial-up Connection window is
open. If needed, route the PC Cursor to the JAWS cursor and tab to the
disconnect button and close the window. You are now disconnected from the
internet.
It is a bit tricky to get used to, but it is so much simpler than the way it
used to be.
