Hi, I have just removed IE 5, again, in favor of IE 4.01. My reasons follow. I sure hope these issues are resolved before JFW is deemed to officially work with any version of IE 5. 1. Inconsistent cursor routing. While browsing with IE 5, the routing of the JAWS cursor to the PC cursor is quite inconsistent. Once in awhile, the JAWS cursor actually goes to the active link, otherwise it is parked somewhere else, such as the top of the window. On some systems, careful observation may be required to notice the full effect of this problem, but I do believe it does exist on all or most systems. In contrast, it is possible to route the JAWS cursor correctly to the active link in IE 4 as long as it is a text link. Even when it is not a text link, such as a link to a graphic with alt text, the cursor is very close to the correct location. 2. IE 5 does not correctly handle embeded links, such as the ones found on Empowerment Zone at http://www.empowermentzone.com. Once you choose a main link, you should be able to tab through and select one of its sublinks. This does not work. After selecting a main link, a press of the tab key just starts over at the top of the page. This is unacceptable as well. In IE 4, embeded links do work correctly, and browsing sites like Empowerment Zone is a very pleasant experience. 3. JFW chats too much while browsing pages with IE 5. Portions of pages are automatically reread. I have also observed this extra chattiness while tabbing through links in a page. I find this extremely annoying most of the time, and almost useless in some cases. I have observed this problem much less frequently in IE 4. 4. The various sounds that provide useful indicators during browsing in IE 4 are not heard at all in IE 5. Those problems are the ones I have found to be most noticable. I am now back to IE 4.01SP1. The only advantage I had with IE 5 was that the insert-f9 frame list command worked properly. It does not work under any circumstances on my system in IE 4.
