did you try the obvious, unchecking everything you checked?
also did you pick floating window in the context menu, or hide tree view?
i prefer to pick floating window, one does not have to pick both.
some also uncheck things that clutter the screen
under options, then mail box, uncheck the first 4, leave the fifth checked,
then uncheck the next 3
also under options some go to display and uncheck
m d i task bar
this helps some with focus.
also i noticed that i do not have the spell checker set the way you do,
so try that as well, only this time only try one thing at a time.
test it before making another change.
