I haven't tried WAV files. Standard downloads seem to go okay, but I couldn't get it off the mark for an FTP download and had to go to Netscape. Page reading seems to be its strong suit. It's far more elegant and automated than anything else I've tried, but I'm going to give IBM a whirl as well and thanks to the folks on this list who let me know about it.
