Unless you plan to use jaws within a network for multi users, all you really
need to do is install jaws on the local computer that you will be using. I
have three computers for which I have done this and it works fine network
cards and all. If you need an ether-net network card find out what kind of
connection you have like 10 base t and order it from your computer provider
as an alternative. Actually the alternative would be to buy one of those
cards from 3com that has a modum and either net card build into one. look
into that. the other thing is that if you upgrade which most likely you
will be doing with your new computer, either find out if you can get
upgrades for those 16 bit programs that you are running in the old computer
or, better yet, ask the computer provider what software suites come bundled
with the computer. If you want windows 95 ask if that is an option for
them to give you. Some places still allow for this. Otherwise start
reading up on windows 98 and the things you need to do for it to run with
JFW32.19. The other thing that you have to worry about is the video card
that will not be unfriendly to jaws. From what I understand, HJ is
recommending the matrox millenium g100 or g200 video cards. See if that is
an option for your computer provider. I'm sure that there are other cards
that are just as good if not better. Sometimes when you ask for other parts
that are not standard of manufacturer, you have to expect that you will be
paying just a little more. I suggest consolidating when you talk to these
guys. I bought mine from dell and what I did was by a computer with a
slower processor like a 350mhz with 90 megs, reasonable for the internet,
and, if you want, either a 6 or 10 gig hard drive. goodluck
