Hi everybody:
I'm sending this to both the jfw and midi-mag lists, as this applies to
both. As many of you know, i've been writing scripts for cakewalk version
8 and I've also been lamenting about the fact that there is a resource
conflict between jaws 3.2 and cakewalk 8. This results in extremely
sluggish performance of cakewalk when jfw is loaded, regardless of the
amount of memory and cpu power. I've been in contact withHJ, and had even
gotten to talk with one of their developers, Mike Peterson, who had been
assigned to help me tackle this problem, which goes deeper than scripting.
This was about 2 months ago, and since then I've gotten nowhere with the
problem. Eric Damorie finally got in touch with me to let me know that
Mike is currently busy trying to get jfw 3.3 ready for public beta. It had
been my understanding that they were interested in bundling my cakewalk 8
scripts along with jfw 3.3, but that seems to have been put aside for the
moment. While I'm fully aware of the old story that there are a lot more
people using software like office 97 and lotus and all the other
corporate-related stuff, I believe thatit is important at this time to let
HJ know that there are a lot of cakewalk users out there who are also jaws
users, and that we need this problem resolved. AT present, it's really
impractical to use cakewalk 8 with jfw when working on large projects. The
response is so slow that you spend more time waiting than creating. I'm
forced to use window bridge a lot of the time, which, while lacking the
bells and whistles included in my scripts, works much faster, with almost
no overhead to cakewalk.
So please, for the benefit of all of us, contact your friendly HJ rep,
e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], whatever means of contact you feel is best.
Let them know your out there, and let them know that we must not be
overlooked.
