John:
sometimes the lines of text files are longer than what can fit in a notepad
window, even if that window is maximized. The way I usually get around
this is to press alt-e to bring up the Edit menu, then select Word Wrap
(typing w may do this). You're put at the top of the file, and the lines
are now adjusted so you can read everything with JFW.
When you exit the file, you're asked if you want to save changes. If you
know you'll want to read the file again it will be helpful to go ahead and
save it.
I hope this helps you.
