I'm using the 3.3 beta and like it very much. In case the following may
clarify something, I am offering it. It helped me to figure it out.
Insert f10 now gives a Jaws Task List. This includes the running
applications that show up in my alt-tab process, but also lists some things
that are not automatically showing up in my alt-tab in Windows-98 -.
Sometimes my Internet Connection shows up on this task list and sometimes
not; desktop is also on this list.
Insert f9: In Internet Mail (and presumably Internet Explorer as well),
this keystroke provides info about frames. However, in other applications,
it pops up a list of system tray icons. I believe HJ needs a different
keystroke for the frame identification script so that one does not have to
alt-tab out of Internet Explorer or Internet Mail to read the system tray
icons. Also one can read these system tray icons by staying in the
Internet Mail/Explorer window and pressing insert f10 first for the Jaws
task list, then insert f9 for the system tray icons. I really appreciate
these system tray icons. I am using a laptop and they show my percent of
battery charge as well as other things (like infrared disabled) that I
never knew were on my screen. I had had to do a major mining operation in
the Control panel to check on my battery before.
Control-alt-delete: This is definitely not the same as the Jaws task list
shown in insert f10. I have a demo of Window Eyes installed and an now
access the control-alt-delete screen with it and there are about 12 things
running, the guts of Windows98 I believe, that show up there but that do
not show up anywhere else.
I am still not clear on the absolute meaning of and differentiation
between:
task tray
system tray
task list
control-alt-delete screen
If someone would provide some really concise definitions of these, it would
help me sort through what JFW is doing tremendously.
