I have had a strange problem with the Office Assistant In Outlook98
where even though it was turned off there was something still
cluttering the screen. This generally occurs with most new
installations I do. When it happens I usually have to remove the
Office Assistant altogether. I thought I would avoid it this time but
had never used it with this system. After turning it on and then off
the problem started occurring with this computer.
To remove Office Assistant just rename the files in c:\program
files\microsoft office\office\actors\
You can always get it back if needed.
The path will be different if Office is not in the default
installation directory.
