Yes. You can modify your config.sys file so that numlock is deactivated
on boot up. Here is a quick way to accomplish the job:
1.
Press control-escape or the left windows key to open the Start menu.
2.
Press r to open the Run... dialog so that you can manually run a program.
3.
Type the following command line:
notepad c:\config.sys
4.
Press enter to execute this command line. You now have the notepad text
editor running, with your config.sys file open and ready to be modified.
5.
Press control-end to move to the end of this file.
6.
Activate the PC cursor, and press insert-up arrow to read the contents of
the last line. If JFW says "blank", then you are ready for the next step.
If it says anything else, press enter to create a blank line. Verify this
with the insert-up arrow command to read the current line.
7.
Type the following:
numlock=off
8.
Now you need to save the changed file and exit notepad. Press alt-f to
pull down the file menu. Press s to save the file. Then, press alt-f4 to
close notepad.
9.
In order for this change to take effect, the computer needs to be
restarted.
10.
Press control-escape to open the Start menu.
11.
Press u to shut down the computer.
12.
Press r to select the restart option.
13.
Press enter to proceed. The next time your computer boots, you should not
have to deal with the numlock key.
