If you're using JFW3.3 beta, here is a routine that announces "Please
wait..." when the Hour glass cursor shape is visible, and "Ready" when the
cursor returns active again. I'm working on a routine that will announce
the "Please wait..." message about every 5-seconds or so, for as long as the
hour glass is displayed, giving the user a verbal indication that the system
is busy and not locked up.
1) Hit Insert+6 to load the Configuration Manager, then Control+Shift+D to
load the default configuration file.
2) Hit Alt+S to get the Settings menu displayed, then hit "C" to get into
the Cursor menu.
3) Check the Notify when cursor changes option and whack Enter.
4) Hit Alt+F4 and answer "Yes" to the "Save changes" prompt.
Now, we'll need to add a couple of lines in the default script file.
1) Hit Control+Shift+0 to launch the Script Manager with the default script
file loaded.
2) Hit F2 until you hear the script name "SayCursorChanges".
3) Arrow down to the "If/Then" statement that reads:
If (GlobalCursorType =="normal") then
Say (msg275, ot_cursor) ;"Arrow Cursor"
and place a semicolon in front of the "Say(Msg275," line, then add this line
underneath that one:
SayString("Ready")
Now, when the cursor becomes active again, you'll hear it announce "Ready".
4) Now, to do the same with the hour glass cursor shape, arrow down until
you reach the "If/Then" statement that reads:
If (GlobalCursorType =="WAIT") then
Say (msg276a, ot_cursor)
and place a semicolon at the beginning of the "Say(Msg276," line.
5) Now, add the following line underneath that line:
SayString("Please wait...")
6) Hit Control+S to compile the script file with these new changes.
Now, when the hour glass appears, you'll hear "Please wait...", and "Ready"
when the hour glass disappears!
