Hi: From what we can tell, the yes/no check box looks different in a table
than it does in a form. What we ended up doing was highlighting (not
opening) the table in which the yes/no box is, and then going to the Insert
menu and choosing autoform. For some reason, it's enough different that
JAWS can pick it up and tell you whether or not it is checked.
The Status text properties is also a good solution.

Yup, a real pain in the arse.
I have developed a bunch of databases in Access97 for use with JAWS and for
my
experience; Buttons, Toggles, Yes/No controls and as I recall, Radio buttons
all have the same problem. There are 2 solutions that I use. Assuming you
have
a status bar frame set up to speak all text, the easiest is to use the
"Status
Bar Text" property. This is what I use most often. Simply type in the text
you
want spoken when the control has focus. This way, when ever one of those
controls has the focus, your text shows up in the status bar and is read.
The
other method is to create your own status bar on the form using a text box
control and set up a JAWS frame on it to read all. You would then use some
code
to display text in that text box when your control has the focus.
