Regarding Silencing keys in different applications, the answer is yes.

Hold down the insert key and press 6 on the top row of your keyboard.
You will be placed in the configuration manager.
A file will be created or brought up that goes with the application you want to
work with.
Change the keyboard settings and save the file.
Exit the configuration manager.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that in some instances, you have to go into the
script file in some cases to comment out messages that are spoken when keys are
presed. For example, in the default scripts, there is a script called
JAWSPageDown(), which speaks a message when you hit the page down key. look for
messages like this, and put a semicolon on the beginning of the line.
