Hi all,
I went on site at a local cable company yesterday to determine if their system can be
accessed by a blind person. They are using windows NT and the primary application is
a proprietary package called CSG which is using DO3270 emulation to access the
database on a main frame system somewhere. I am using the JFW NT forty minute demo
with Eloquence and a Power Braille 40 display. After tweaking on the installation
quite a bit yesterday, I was able to get the braille display to indicate to me that
the editable fields in the database are underlined but the primary problem here is
that the display keeps flipping back and forth between the field I am editing and the
first character of the first line of the screen following the menu bar requiring me to
speed read the braille. <GRIN> At the same time, the speech will just keep repeating
the first character of that first line ad nauseum.
After talking a couple of times with HJ tech support I tweaked some settings and then
made some changes on my own. I have a message from the NT Administrator I was working
with at that company and I will include the body of that message here so you can see
what settings we are using. If someone on this list can contact me privately at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or give me a phone number, I would like to talk in depth
with you to solve this problem. I have a feeling I will need to get some training to
write scripts to make this work and am willing to do that but a quick fix would be
helpful as well.
