Follow these steps to install multi-SSIL:
1. Locate and rename any old copies of SSIL.DLL that might be
loaded when an SSIL-enabled program starts up. When an SSIL-
enabled program starts, Windows loads any copy of SSIL.DLL
that it can find. Windows will search all directories in your
path, the directory of the starting SSIL-enabled program, and
your \WINDOWS and WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories. If you are unsure
of which copies of SSIL.DLL to rename, rename all of that you
can find, including the SSIL.DLL found in the OPENBOOK directory.
DO NOT RENAME the one in the OPENBOOK\UTILS directory, since
this is the new SSIL you will be copying in the next step.
2. Copy OPENBOOK\UTILS\SSIL.DLL to OPENBOOK\SSIL.DLL. Also copy
it to the directories of any other SSIL-enabled programs you wish
to use simultaneously with Open Book. For example, if you are using
Jaws for Windows installed in the JFW directory, you would copy
OPENBOOK\UTILS\SSIL.DLL to JFW\SSIL.DLL.
3. Copy OPENBOOK\UTILS\SSILEXE.EXE to your WINDOWS directory.
This program is required by the new SSIL.DLL, and it can always
be found by Windows if it is placed in the WINDOWS directory.
4. If you are using Jaws for Windows version 2.00.28 or later,
copy OPENBOOK\UTILS\SSIL.DLL to your JFW directory. Also copy
OPENBOOK\UTILS\OPENBOOK.JCF to the JFW\SETTINGS\ENU directory.
If you have an earlier version of Jaws for Windows, you should
request an update.
5. If you are using Jaws for Windows version 3.00.00 or higher
copy OPENBOOK\UTILS\SSILTK16.DLL to the JFWxx
directory. This will overwrite an incompatible version of
SSILTK16.DLL that was shipped with these particular versions
of Jaws.
