{ HYPERLINK mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] }Hello Digesters,
It has been a while since I have been lurking Always learning something from you all. Now I am turning to you for some help. I have been fortunate in receiving many cool adaptive software and hardware from my school district. I am learning and sharing with other teachers of the visually impaired what I am learning... We are all using JFW 3.2 on Win 95 systems.
Here are my questions:
Can students have customized settings files for JFW which can be loaded with a hot key? Some students need to hear each key stroke, while others need only to hear menu options. This is a simplified version of why I want to do this but you get the idea.
I received an old refurbished Power Braille 40. I have no software drivers for it. I remember when installing JFW, it asked if I was using a braille display. Is this all I need to get it up and running? Or do I need other drivers to be installed first?
Is there any problem if I have the Power Brl not connected or just turned off while using the system with JFW? Most of my students use just the speech and not the braille display. So I see the Power Braille being left off most of the time, but it would be extremely helpful when it is needed
we have installed Duxbury Braille Translation, Braille Talk(Math Module) and Dragon Dictate. I am concerned that JFW will not work at the same time as Dragon. Is anyone on the list using this setup? Perhaps we could talk via private email
Some of the problems I am having is that The microphone is not recognized. I looked all over for a place to turn or off the mic. Browsed through the control panel under media manager, multimedia, and sounds. I have tried unloading JFW as well but not sure what else to try.
Thanks for any help
Keith
