David, you are off to a good start. My advice would be not to go to the
jfwscripts group yet. Get a little experience under your belt first.
If you understand everything in the script manual, if you've done the
exercises succesfully, and if you feel that you can answer a few basic
questions on this list first, then you will be ready for the jfwscript
user's group.
One way I started working with scripts was to go to the scripts themselves
and see if I could understand what they were doing.
You can do this at any time by pressing insert+0 in any application, and the
scripts for that application will be shown.
Then, you can see what some of those magical key presses actually do.
