Hi,
Works fine for me. I'm using the same combination.
Make sure that you have some sort of dictionary/language selected, i.e.
English U.S. or it definitely won't work. You can check that out by looking
in the options dialog within the spell-checker itself, I think. Once you're
in the Options dialog, tab around to a button called Dictionaries and press
the space bar.  

I ran across that situation a couple of weeks ago.
