I just wanted to mention that fact that no one has responded to the
query as to "In what web site can you use "the left and right column"
keystrokes that are found in the IE 4.01 Help Topics accessed by Insert
F1F1.
And --moving to another but related topic--the internet instructions
offered by the lady using 4.01 were so clear, I have copied them below.
It is obvious she spent a lot of time figuring them out and spent a lot
of time to efficiently communicate them to this list.
Excellent IE 4.01 instructions (See below)
Dear Tusing,
I to have been battling with Jaws 3.2 and IE, and also with Jaws 3.3 and IE.
Here is what I have found out with sighted help.
Down the left side of every web page there are a number of links. Then again
on the right side of the page there are more links. When you open a link,
that material appears in the center of the screen between the two sets of
links. Of corse it is impossible to read it here. Sulution follows.
1. Open the web page and just let jaws read. Try to get a picture from the
jumbled mess. Try to estimate the number of links listed, this is important
for another step.
2. Use insert F7 to bring up the list box of all the links on the page. .
Now use the down arrow to choose a link, press enter to open it.
3. When the new page opens let Jaws read it again. This time listen for a
hint of what you were looking for. , .
4. Next use Ins. F5 to reformat the page.
. Now, with that estimated amount of links in mind, hit the page down key
once or twice to skip over most of the links which have now been lined up
down the left side of the page. Then just let Jaws read. You may still hear
some links read, but eventually Jaws will read the material you are after.
Note: you may have to hit page down again to finish reading if what you
pulled up is a long article.
Note: sometimes when you open a link, it will be just another page of links.
If this seams to be the case when you first let Jaws read, immediately use
Ins. F7 to list the links.
I hope what I have written has help, if not write me back and ask more
questions. The Web is hard, but not in possible to navigate. Futher, if
there is a certain page you are having trouble with, send me the url, and I
will look at it, and get my sited husband to look also, so that I can tell
you what the layout is.
Finally, if you do find the link you are looking for, and need to visit
there again, book mark it. This will often save time as you don't have to
navigate through the opening page jungle.
