I have JFW 3.3 loadedon by wife's ThinkPad 600. It works great with the
NeoMagic chip set. The sound quality using Eloquence is fine. You are
absolutely right about the keyboard layout making it easier to manipulate.
Good luck.

Hi all,
I am thinking about getting an Ibm thinkPad but have a couple of questions
for any one out there who might be using one with Jaws.
1. I like the ThinkPad 600 but am unsure about the interaction of its
NeoMagic video chip set with JFW. (I am currently using JFW 3.3.25.) This
video card (or family) was not listed on the JFW site.
2. Also, I have been warned to check out the audio output on a laptop
before buying, as much of the voice output will be from a software
synthesizer. Does any one use or know of the quality of speech output and
the thinkpad 600? I know it has on board stereo speakers with .5 watts
output, but don't know if this is good.
3. There seem to be even more potential conflicts when trying to use a
laptop and specialized software/hardware than even with a desktop. Is any
one using the thinkPad with relatively few problems? Specifically, Does
any one know about the 600 series?
I love that the thinkPad's keyboard retains the function, six pack, and
arrow key configuration that is found on a full keyboard.
I appreciate any input, thoughts, or advice on this issue.
Thanks much,
Nick
