Complete? I'll do my best. I used to make a living working on computers,
but that was when the command line interface was the norm. Windows always
seems to be too complicated for its own good. Anyway, here's what I have.
Pentium 2 at 300 MHz
128 megs of RAM
6.4 gig hard disk with almost 5 gigs free
Video is a Matrox Millenium G200 with 8 megs of onboard SRAM at 250 MHz
running 640x480
IDE controller
Adaptec SCSI controller running a Yamaha CD-RW drive
AOpen 56k modem
HP scanner on USB
Windows 98
JFW 3.2
ZoomText Xtra Level 1 (JFW and ZT never run concurrently)
WordPerfect 8
The problems come most often in Netscape, and it doesn't seem to matter if
other applications are running. The only pattern is that some web pages
will crash, and some won't, but I can't determine what element causes this
and it's not consistent at all. WordPerfect occasionally crashes on exit,
and the WP Expert engine will not run at all.
The crashes are showing up in several different files, ranging from
kernal32 on down, and also seem to ahve no pattern. I am currently running
ICQ, Eudora, ZoomText, and Netscape concurrently, and my System Resources
show at 39% free.
Eudora will occasionally crash for no apparent reason as well. If I could
just find a pattern in all this, I could find the problem. But either it's
not there, or I'm missing it.
If anyone requires more information, let me know. And thanks again for
even bothering to devote some brain cells to my problems.
