Thanks for the tip on Netspace 4.6, I was not aware there was a new version.
In the continuing saga, it seems that one theory of mine is wrong. I
thought maybe there was a greater chance of crashing during modem-based
operations in Windows, but that's not so. It seems that the crashing
occurs whenever the computer thinks it can annoy me, network operations or
not. I have no other clues as yet. But the problem is getting worse, even
though I'm not making any changes to the system. And yes, I have done very
thorough virus scanning, without result.
The only consistent thing is that each crash is in some .dll file or other.
I know that's not much to go on, but it's more than I had mentioned
before. Hopefully it will be of some help.
