I seem to have the same problem with doubletalk and the shift key. I also
have a minor problem with the ctrl key to stop speech and place the
cursor on the last word that was read. it seems to go back too far. if I
read a half a page, the cursor is placed a sentence or too back. if I
read a page and a half or  2 pages, the cursor is placed about a
paragraph or so back on the page. seems strange to me?
