If you are in to scripts, you might want to check out the ispf scripts that
Glenn Sepke wrote some time ago. I doubt you could apply them to your
particular program, but there are definitely parts in there that you could
steal.
If I remember right, you want to get your blinking rate as high as is
possible and, I believe, you want a block cursor rather than an underline
cursor.
I've fought this battle before--with ISPF--but I don't remember all the
little nuances you have to go through.
Bottom line is, it's a real pain at first, but it's usually doable. Just
hang in there.
