it sounds more like a cd problem than a soundcard problem. I use cd
player with software synths successfully on a regular basis.
I suggest that you look around in controll pannel under audio and make
sure the driver for the cd is installed and set up correctly. also,
try another cd there may be a problem with the cd you have in the
player.
