telling if a message is read with o 5

hi gang, I've just installed i.e. 5 and o 5.
I then went to nicks site to download the latest scripts for o 5.
when I came to read my email, I could not tell which emails i had read, and
which i had not.
in i.e. 4, if an email was unread you would hear unread message before the
subject of the email.
please help.
I'm using jfw 3.2.31.
