>Hi Derek,
>I had the same problem as you and I wasted about three or four weeks of
>failure trying to get real player to work for me. Then finally I got an
>answer from Josh Kennedy that helped me get on the right track.
>I might can help you, but I am not sure. I will give it a try. It does
>make a difference as to which version of a synthesizer you are using.
>If you are like me, I am using the cheaper software synthesizer available
>from hj, the DecTalk Access32, not the DecTalk Express, which is a hardware
>version, which is also more versatile, since it can also do DOS very well.
>Oh! I diverge. Let me know what synthesizer you are using.
>I have on my desktop the real player.
>I just go to it with my PC cursor on the desktop, focus jaws on real player
>and press the enter key, which opens real player.

>It is sort of like opening the JAWS program. It will not start telling you
>anything until you give it one of its commands like alt+p for the presets
>menu or preference menu, alt+f for the file menu, alt+v for the view menu,
>alt+h for the help menu, and maybe some others, but I don't remember them
>now.
>Then using your cursor arrowing keys move up and down the menu box until you
>find a genre' or style of music you like, it could be talk news or sports
>also, then right arrow over to that style, then arrow up and down in the

>press the control key just after pressing the enter key on your selection
>from the choices presented to you in the preferences or preset menu.
>Continue to hold down the control key until you hear something, then release
>the control key. Often you will hear a brief commercial being presented in
>graphics, so it is silent for a little while, then you start hearing the

>Try it to see if it works.
>Let us know.

>I will forward you the message from Josh that got me up and running.
>I hope you find him and me helpful.

>>I downloaded RealPlayer 5.0 from the Real Networks web sight and installed

>>When I press "insert F1" twice quickly, JAWS says, "There are no specific
