You failed to tell what version of IE you are using but I suspect that it
is version 5.0.
Pull the View Menu down either while on the Internet or working offline.
Press enter on Toolbar Submenu and press Enter I think it was the very
first item and the search screen should disappear.
When you are returned to IE I suggest that you refresh the screen with
Insert+Escape.
This hopefully should correct your delima!
